2 days of Firsts
So yesterday was My and Sophia's first day out of the house. We went over to my Grandmas so she could meet my Aunts, Uncle and Cousin. It was nice to get out a little bit but I tell you what, Sophia was little Miss Cranky Pants when we got home. Poor thing...I was expecting an especially long night since she was in a bad mood but surprisingly she was all tuckered out and slept soundly and according to her schedule until about 6 this morning. Thats when she was really fussing and nothing made her happy except to cuddle with Momma and Pops. So we kicked the dogs out and cuddled this morning and she was happy as a clam. Then it was off to her first doctors appointment! She did very well and everyone was excited to see her. Luckily there were no shots involved today (Phew!) it was just to make sure that she is growing and thriving which I am proud to say that she is. She is still 21 1/2 inches long which puts her in the 95 percentile for her height. For weight she is at 8lb 4 oz which is awesome because it means she is back to and has exceeded her birth weight which the doctor said the goal for a 2 week old is to be back at birth weight so she is ahead of schedule. Guess she truly is nursing like a mad little piggy, lol. And if you have gotten to meet her then you pry have noticed that her poor little head is still all swollen on one side. Well we found out today that that is a called a hematoma somethingorother and its from my pushing so long and her not being lined up in the birth canal properly. I guess she was trying to come out with the side of her head first which caused that swelling, and might have added to my pushing for 3 hrs. Anyways- the doctor described it as a giant fluid and blood filled blister and said it would go away in about 6 weeks. She also has a nubbin on the back of her head at the base of her skull which he said was a swollen lymph node that was helping with the draining of that hematoma. So it was good to know that there isn't anything wrong with her head and she'll be fine in a few weeks. Well I think that about updates everything for now. She is still zonked out from her tiring past couple of days which is why I was able to actually post something. I'd almost forgotten what its like to type with 2 hands! Until next time....
