Explain

I don't understand cloth diapering anymore. I thought I did-but then I was looking around trying to figure out how to turn the rectangles into diapers when I was attacked with all kinds of things I didn't know about. The only thing I've figured out is liners. But I still don't understand the "pocket" diapers, or the fancy bumper pants- or even the non-diaper pins diaper pins. Surely I don't need all that fancy stuff for diapering right? Gerber diapers and plastic pants and diapers will work just fine right?

Plain, simple, old-fashioned cloth diapers will work more than fine. I have 3 children and diapered all 3 in cloth diapers, rubber pants, and pins.

In fact old-fashioned cloth diapers are far more reliable than modern cloth diapers are. They dry faster (dried mine on the clothesline), and they fit from newborn-through to toddler.

When I changed my kids before bed--I would fold two diapers together called double diapering for extra added security-absorbency, and that never let me down in regards to staving off wetness until morning.

When the kids reached the point of no more daytime diapers, I padded their bottoms up in thermal waffle knit soakers and rubber pants throughout the day, and pinned them back up in diapers with rubber pants for night.

Old-fashioned cloth diapers are versatile, economical, and tried and true. Definitely go for old-fashioned if you do.

Debbie.
