Its official...

My Sophia is allergic to eggs. Boo. The good news is that she is able to tolerate eggs baked in items, like waffles, pancakes, pasta and that type of stuff which is why I baked the above yummies just for her. There are plain pancakes, some with a couple chocolate chips dropped in (I feel bad for her!) and some yummy bananas dipped in pancake batter for her breakfasts. But there will be no scrambled eggs, french toast, omelets or quiches in her immediate future. The doctor said that luckily most kids outgrow an egg allergy by about age 5 so hopefully she will too. The not so fun news is that every year she has to be tested for the egg allergy and if we ever want to give her the flu shot she has to go to the doctor and get that years vaccine tested on her before they will administer it (which they will also do that in the office, just in case.) An egg allergy is in the top 6 most allergenic foods so she also has to avoid other highly allergenic foods which means no tree nuts, peanuts (or peanut butter) and shellfish until age 3 at which point she'll be tested for allergies to those items also. We also have to carry an epi pen with us now, just in case of an emergency. He said that even though now her reactions are mild they could get worse before they get better so we have to have the pen with us at all times, though he did say it was only an insurance policy and he didn't think we'd ever need it, but you never know! So pretty much we just have to do what we've been doing (avoid eggs) plus some more stuff (the top 3) and we have to make sure that anyone who babysits her knows exactly what she can and can not have and we also have to show them how to use the epi pen. So its a little more stressful in that sense that I didn't like leaving her with people before and now I'm REALLY not going to want to leave her!
In other news, I tried to cut her bangs again with disastrous results. Next time she is going to the stylist. It looks like she took the scissors to herself!
