Season of Change

So I mentioned in a few posts back that there was a change on the horizon for me but I could reveal it just yet. Well now I can.

I quit my job.

And I feel wonderful!

I won't go in to to much detail as I'd rather not have to be accused of defamation or whatever so I'll just brief you. I hated my job. HATED it. I had no friends there because I was unable to bring myself to kiss the chapped butt that they were. And therefore I was an "outsider". Once I got pregnant things went downhill and downhill fast. Its hard to drag yourself to work everyday when, for legitimate reasons (not just "I'm pregnant") you were exhausted. As you know if you've been reading this blog that long I had gestational diabetes, b12 anemia and iron anemia. I was one tired momma, but no one cared. No one cared when I was put on a 10 lb lifting restriction. No one cared period. Fast forward and my maternity leave was disastrous. I spent more time worrying about if I was going to get paid properly (which I wasn't) than bonding with my daughter. I dreaded going back to work with every fiber in my being. But the time came and I had to go back, part time at least, but still. Things were ok for awhile. Well as ok as they could be. Then they got bad. Nasty. Downright ugly. On one incident I was as much as told that I was not wanted there. In fact I do believe that is pretty close to exactly what was said to me in a not HR friendly verbal ATTACK in front of my peers and managers. And that was the beginning of the end. After that my hours dwindled to the point where over the past MONTH I've only worked 20 hours. And so I quit today. Maybe not the smartest move it would appear but believe me, my sanity and my relationships were at stake here. If I had a shift on any given day I was the absolute WORST person to be around. I hated what I was dealing with. I hated that, having been through a similar situation before, I didn't have the energy to report the abuse as I should have. I couldn't muster the strength to protect myself and for that I am sorry.

But, alas, another venture was on my horizon. My dear friend had a little girl in August and I have been chosen to be the lucky one to care for her daughter while she is at work. This is the perfect arrangement as it means I will be home with MY daughter as well. At this point, I'm just very thankful that everything has worked out the way it has- for the better. And I'm so glad my friend trusts me enough to let my life take this path now.
