New Years

Its that time again! So here is last years resolutions and how I did on them.

EASY:
  • Not to cut my hair all year. I'm going to get one trim sometime soon so I have a cute, grow-out-able style then not another. FAIL- didn't make it to June.
  • Get back on, and STAY on track with my diabetes maintenance. Sounds hard but when I take a second to think about what'll happen if I DON'T take care of myself, its pretty good motivation. I've gotten back on the train so far, now I just need to focus on not taking a road trip half way through the ride. Success. I went off all my meds and just started eating better. After a few months of that my numbers tested back in range and that's that.
HARD:
  • Get our finances straightened out. We had a hard year. Stupid mistakes catch up eventually. We did a lot of research and a lot of budgets and A LOT of learning the hard way. This is the year to apply what we've learned and make a difference in our life. Sort of a success. We still learned a lot of lessons. But we also learned we can live on less.
  • QUIT DRINKING SODA. If you know me, you know how hard this is. I'm never to far from my Coke. Not only is it not healthy all around, its detrimental to my easy goal of riding the "I keep my diabetes in check" train. "Hi, my name is Elly and I'm an addict"- Hey, do you think there is a caffeine-aholics anonymous around here? FAIL. I'm drinking a coke right now. In my defense I was doing pretty well about drinking water until we moved in August. I need to get back to that.
  • I'd really like to put my own team together for one of the cancer run/walk fundraisers. I've done the Susan G. Komen Race for a Cure in Indy and the Relay for Life several times (here and once in Avon). Always a part of a corporate sponsor. Well I have no corporate sponsor now and at any rate, my participation in the last Relay for Life really left a sour taste in my mouth concerning corporate teams. I'm pretty sure there is a Stomp Out Diabetes campaign too but I don't know much about it. Need to look into that... Failed again. I participated in March of Dimes but that was it.
So, what does the next year hold for goals? Well, here we go....
  • Lose another 20 pounds. End 2011 two pants sizes smaller just like I did this year.
  • I don't know if its a resolution but expand our family is on the list.
  • Do the dishes every night. The most annoying chore.
  • Fold the laundry as it comes out of the dryer. The second most annoying chore.
  • Sophia's resolution is to break the paci habit.
