So as many of you may already know- I breastfeed Sophia. It was never really a question for me whether to do so or not. When I thought of feeding my baby, formula was never on my mind. 6 months into it and hours of research logged learning about it, I'm a big promoter of breastfeeding. Even to the point of debating becoming a certified lactation consultant. However the few number of jobs available in town for an LC are limited. So I canned that idea. Then I saw this doll.
...
Right. Now, at first I wasn't appalled by this doll. I hadn't heard anything about it really and after a friend told me it actually sucks- I had to investigate. And sure enough- this little doll sucks. The girl puts on a halter top that has essentially to flower pasties, holds the baby up to one of them and it will start to actually move its mouth in a sucking motion...That is the creepy part to me. I have already considered not giving Sophia the bottles that come with baby dolls and feel that is enough. Either she'll use her imagination (gasp!) to feed the baby a bottle or she'll pretend to nurse it, and I feel that is plenty enough agenda pushing. Even this doll, at first, seemed like a great idea. But then it started suckling. And I ran away screaming.
